Georgia Tech this week revealed that an attacker infiltrated a central database and stole personal information on up to 1.3 million current and former faculty, students, staff, and university applicants. The unknown attacker or attackers broke in via a Georgia Institute of Technology Web application, according to the university, which said it discovered the breach in late March.
